There are shock collars, but I don’t like those. I personally feel an operation to snip the vocal cords is much more humane than bringing a dog who is loud to the pound to suffer away from his family and eventually be put to sleep.

Ya there cruel and mean. You should never use one of those. If u want something that doesnt bark maybe u shouldn’t have gotten a dog then!!!

Yeah, and it’s terrible. Almost as bad a removing a dog’s voice box. Wait… dogs don’t have voices. Why do they call it a "voice" box? Sorry, that was random. My mind wanders. =)

No, there are horrible shock collars, and ways to cut out their vocal cords, but they’re all sick things to do to a dog. Personally, if I had a yappy dog I’d train him and show him that barking is bad or get a trainer to do it for me.

well for a dog i think its better for a collar that squirts water some dogs don’t react to that if they don’t i don’t suggest a shock collar because its can really hurt the dog and dogs can remember stuff for a long long time and dogs can remember stuff their whole life time

Don’t buy or use a shock collar. They are cruel. Instead, look at what causes the barking, if that is excessive. Is your dog spending too much time alone, tied to a rope, or locked in a kennel? Remember that all dogs will bark, especially if they are anxious or feeling abandoned. I have used a tip found in some dog training websites: put a few marbles or pennies inside an empty can. When the dog barks, shake it in order to make a lot of noise – it only took my dog a couple of days to stop barking every time my neighbor walked outside! I hope this helps.

I agree with first answer that is cruel try it on your neck first and if it doesn’t hurt then by all means put it on the dog. I saw them do this on jackass and it hurt don’t do it let the dog bark

I am a professional dog trainer that does use remote collars and used correctly an e-collar will always be very humane.
If you want to get a collar to stop your dog from barking get a Tritronics Bark Limiter. They are simple and easy to use. Start at the lowest level so that the dog learns to understand it first and then gradually move up the level to that which stops the barking. Good Luck.
