Training Collar Guide: Pick the training collar that best suits your pet

How to teach your dog to CALMLY walk on a LOOSE LEASH (part II)

This is the second part of my tutorial on walking your dog on a loose leash. In addition to teaching your dog that staying next to you is rewarding, you can take some measures to ensure that your dog remains calm and relaxed as you walk them. Be sure to check out the first video for a full explanation of how to conquer the LOOSE LEASH walk. Make sure to subscribe to my channel, as I am regularly posting dog training videos every week. If you have any questions, or suggestions for future videos… leave them in the comments! Enjoy!

  • @wernlyn Is this a puppy? Sounds like he may be anticipating the excitement of the walk. I would try putting the leash/collar on several times throughout the day, even if it’s just for a few seconds, and then take it off. We want him to learn that a collar/leash doesn’t mean it’s time for a fun exciting walk. Best to do this when he’s tired and or sleepy!

  • Hi, i love all of your videos! They so helpfull, with your help i have managed to teach my dog not to pul! And he was a terrible puller! :-) Thanks, but i want to ask if you could make a video teaching HEEL please? I would really love to teach my dog heel. thansk in advanced! John :-)

  • awesome videos

  • hi, can you teach me how to put the collar and leash on my dog without him jumping and wanting to grab it before i even put it on… thanks : )

  • @murwill1 Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve made a note of it.

  • love this, can you do a video to show how to handle a dog that lunges at other dogs on leash and just when standing still talking with someone and he sees a dog and wants to lunge. i don’t be agression i mean lunging because the dog wants to great and sniff other dog. i have this problem with my dog. thanks
i you could just tell me what to do that would be great. thanks

  • @musicofnote1 Thanks! Being ‘macho’ has no place in dog training. This is about building trust, and that happens to be a two-way street.

  • It’s nice to see a guy giving +R/-P training tips. This isn’t just a “girly thing” and not applicable for “real men” with “real dogs”. Great job, I really enjoyed it!

  • I’am practicing with the dog next door from me, until I get my dog, in 2 weeks, I will take them both on walk now that I have the best dog trainers in my subs. you include dude, that’s cool you take your time to learn us how to do =)

  • What happens if it ‘s a squirrel? A cat? Then what???

  • this was really helpful!

  • Thanks!!!

  • Great video! Incidentally, my dog has the same collar (brown w/pink flowers) shown at the beginning.

  • Excellent use of training collars !!

  • great lesson. Will try this on my lab puppy who constantly pulls her leash.

  • Very good video, as always!

  • Excellent video! Solea nicely demonstrates how it’s done. :) 5*s!

  • Good Video with good info. I like your advice about the sniffing issue.

  • An “ah-ha” moment. That bolting out the door was the worst part about going for walks. I’m still working on this with my dog but I think he’ll get it. He’s already not tearing TO the door. He’s at least waiting for me to go with him to the door. Keep the videos coming!

  • Your videos are very encouraging, I really enjoy watching them. Great job!

  • Another great video!! Thanks!

  • I can’t wait for another video. You are a great trainer.
