GG asked:

1.Training is not effective for Barking Dogs – Barking for dogs is oral communication. There are underlying causes. Training helps the owners understand their dog better. Training alleviates the issue behind dog barking thus giving the neighbor his peace.

2.Using shock collars is cruel as they cause huge electric shocks to my dog – I doubt anyone would be so inhumane that they let a device causing electric shock be used on his dogs. But the point is the so called shock collars do not exactly give them a shock which causes them pain or even discomfort. It probably just surprises them into paying attention.Studies have shown that these are far less than the jolt produced by cattle prod which is a used training equipment. These collar also come with sprays which startle the dog to stop barking. The results produced are also staggeringly effective.

3.Excessive barking is due to bad breeding – I agree that breeding dogs exclusively for the purpose of making them watch dogs is done and that these dogs are meant to bark however excessive barking is a learned habit. Your dog is probably barking to convey something you probably do not understand.

4.Barking Dogs do not Bite – It is a myth alright. Do not be misguided. Aggressiveness is a tendency which causes the dogs to bark and the same may aggravate them to bite too. Be careful especially around strange dogs.

5.Only Barking dogs are good watch dogs – I agree watch dogs need to bark to alert us about intruders however it has been known that the ideal watchdog does not bark too loudly or insistently. In fact it does not have the aggressive qualities of biting or barking excessively at all.

6.Strelize your dog to comepletely stop dog barking – Spaying and Neutering a dog only reduces the barking of a dog in heat. It does not remove the underlying cause of dog barking.

7.Dogs bark because they long for the company of a dog – One of the causes of dog barking sure is Attention Seeking. However, not in all cases does another dog cure barking. In fact, if the cause of barking is any form of aggression, it can increase the barking and aggressive behavior further.

To know more about barking and to read about a new EBook “Secrets To Control Dog Barking-Revealed!”, exclusively about Dog Barking with simple and effective method to control dog barking, visit our site at www.controldogbarking.com

Janise

P. Hamilton asked:

Does your dog normally live indoors or is he an outside dog? If you normally keep him outside you must always make sure that he has shade when it is hot and a plentiful supply of drinking water. If it is cold he should have somewhere warm to be.

Being confined can sometimes be the cause of barking. If your dog is inside and there is something going on outside he can get frustrated and just bark and bark. Maybe you have people passing by in the street and thoughtless children who provoke the dog by imitating him.

It is quite natural for a dog to bark in that sort of situation, however, you can still curb his instincts in that direction.

If you are not there to check him, perhaps you are out at work or doing the marketing etc. you will need something that will work instead of you, i.e. an automatic anti bark collar. These work by recognizing throat vibrations in the dog that indicate he is barking and dependant upon the type of anti bark collars you have chosen he will be given a sign that the barking has to stop.

In the case of a shock collar he will get a tingling sensation where the collar is situated on his neck, some have a one set charge but others have an escalating strength shock as his barking escalates. Dogs soon learn how to avoid anything uncomfortable so it wouldn’t take him long to figure out that his barking was causing the uncomfortable feeling.

You might have opted for the collar which gives a sonic sound. Fortunately this is audible only to your dog [or any other pets you may have in the house or nearby]. This can work in the same way as the shock, the more the dog barks the louder becomes the sound.

The only drawback with this system that I can see is that if you do have other pets they will be hearing the sound as well and if the dog continues barking and the sound increases in strength, they are going to have to put up with it along with the dog. This seems a bit unfair to the others who have probably done nothing to warrant it.

Or, there is just the nasty smell technique, i.e. a Citronella spray collar. This entails anti bark collars having a reservoir on the collar for citrus smelling liquid. When the collar detects barking vibrations it releases a spray close to the dog’s nose. This will not be enjoyed by the dog as they don’t like a citrus smell.

Again, it should not take him long to realize that he is responsible for causing the smell by his barking and unless he wants to continue having that up his nose he should stop, and stop he will.

Zenia

Karen Carter asked:

Overall research data has shown that the second most common complaint received at local police stations (next to false alarms) are complaints about barking dogs! The result for the owner is police warnings, expensive fines, eviction notices and strained relationships.

Dogs bark because it is their natural communication and behavior. Dogs bark for many reasons, but most of us want our dogs to be “watch dogs” and alert us to anything unusual. We don’t want non-stop barking day in and day out.

A bark collar is the most humane device you can rely on to stop your dog’s excessive barking. A bark control collar is an effective way to stop annoying, barking dogs safely, humanely and quickly. Correcting your dogs excessive barking is something you want to care of immediately, the longer the barking goes on the harder it is to correct it.

The bark collar is a great dog training collar for an owner who doesn’t have a lot of time to train their pet and they work great and very quickly. A lot of people think a bark control collar is unsafe or mistreating your dog. A bark control collar uses sound to modify the barking patterns and are quite safe to use.

When it comes to choosing a training collar, there several types of the bark collar to help you train your pet’s excessive barking habits. Be sure to choose one to fit your dog and his needs. Depending how small, large or stubborn he may be there is a dog collar for every type of dog and situation.

Most bark collars will give your dog a harmless static correction when he barks. The bark control collar will automatically adjust the level of correction needed depending on his barking. Some of them have a lot of levels of correction some with a few. Be sure to shop for what type dog training collar your pet needs for his correction. This type of bark collar is very effective, many dogs stop barking in a matter of just a few days. Then you have no more barking and no more collar. I have personally used this type of collar and had immediate results; I would highly recommend this to any dog owner who wants to stop their dog from over barking. You will be happy and your neighbors will be overjoyed.

Another type of bark control collar that works great if you don’t want to use ultra static correction is the spray bark collar by PetSafe. When your dog barks a burst of all natural citrus spray is emitted, which dogs find bothersome to their highly developed sense of smell. While this spray collar is not harmful, it is a sufficient deterrent to excessive barking.

The citronella spray bark collar is also a great dog training collar. The citronella dog collar also targets your dog’s senses for immediate results. Each time your dog barks, the microphone will detect the barking and the collar releases a harmless citronella spray. It also is safe, effective and painless. It needs no human intervention to work and has no secondary negative effects. In fact this collar has a calming effect on your dog.

With the spray type collars your dog will quickly stop barking, he becomes conditioned to expect the spray and will instinctively refrain from excessive barking to avoid another spray.

A bark collar whether it be a harmless static correction or spray they are very effective solutions to your dogs barking problem. They work very quickly and I highly recommend them.

Virgen
